If it helps, you can break up your journal into concrete sections, such lesson objectives, materials, classroom management, students, teacher, etc. After each lesson, simply jot down a few notes describing your reactions and feelings, and then follow up with any observations you have about your students. Here are a few ways that you can do this: Self-Reflective JournalĪ journal is an easy way to reflect upon what just happened during your instruction. The first step is to figure out what you want to reflect upon-are you looking at a particular feature of your teaching or is this reflection in response to a specific problem in your classroom? Whatever the case may be, you should start by collecting information. The Process of ReflectionĬonnecting self-reflection to effective teaching is a process. Self-reflection is important because it’s a process that makes you collect, record, and analyze everything that happened in the lesson so you can make improvements in your teaching strategies where necessary. However, we run the risk of our audience making snap judgments about our instruction without truly having the context to support it. Why is Self-Reflection So Important?Įffective teachers are first to admit that no matter how good a lesson is, our teaching strategies can always be improved-oftentimes it’s why we seek out our colleagues’ opinions. Other types of shank used include hex-shaped, and various proprietary quick release systems. For heavy duty drilling in industry, bits with tapered shanks are sometimes used. Most drill bits for consumer use have straight shanks. Twist drill bits are available in standard lengths, referred to as Stub-length or Screw-Machine-length (short), the extremely common Jobber-length (medium), and Taper-length or Long-Series (long). While longer bits can drill deeper holes, they are more flexible meaning that the holes they drill may have an inaccurate location or wander from the intended axis. The functional length of a bit determines how deep a hole can be drilled, and also determines the stiffness of the bit and accuracy of the resultant hole.A very acute point angle has more web surface area presented to the work at any one time, requiring an aggressive lip angle, where a flat bit is extremely sensitive to small changes in lip angle due to the small surface area supporting the cutting edges. The proper amount of lip clearance is determined by the point angle. Both conditions can cause binding, wear, and eventual catastrophic failure of the tool. A greater lip angle will cause the bit to cut more aggressively under the same amount of point pressure as a bit with a smaller lip angle. The lip angle determines the amount of support provided to the cutting edge. The correct point angle for the hardness of the material influences wandering, chatter, hole shape, and wear rate. Harder materials require a larger point angle, and softer materials require a sharper angle. The point angle, or the angle formed at the tip of the bit, is determined by the material the bit will be operating in.Low spiral (low twist rate or "elongated flute") drill bits are used in cutting applications where high cutting speeds are traditionally used, and where the material has a tendency to gall on the bit or otherwise clog the hole, such as aluminum or copper. A fast spiral (high twist rate or "compact flute") drill bit is used in high feed rate applications under low spindle speeds, where removal of a large volume of chips is required. The spiral (or rate of twist) in the drill bit controls the rate of chip removal. ![]() Characteristics ĭrill geometry has several characteristics: There are also certain specialized drill bits that can create holes with a non-circular cross-section. A comprehensive drill bit and tap size chart lists metric and imperial sized drills alongside the required screw tap sizes. The drill will grasp the upper end of a bit called the shank in the chuck.ĭrills come in standardized drill bit sizes. In order to create holes drill bits are usually attached to a drill, which powers them to cut through the workpiece, typically by rotation. Drill bits come in many sizes and shapes and can create different kinds of holes in many different materials.

Does Voicemail Still Matter in the 21st Century? Most systems now do it automatically using technology to decipher the audio. A third party could transcribe them manually, which can cause delays and be expensive. The transcription can happen in one of two ways. After completion, the system sends the transcribed messages to the user via email or text message. Voicemail transcription describes the process of transcribing audio messages into text form. Nonetheless, Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a game I’ll remember for years to come, and I can’t help but think that, in a few years, I’ll revisit the title for a nostalgic getaway. There’s something remarkable about a game that can do so much with so little finances backing it. I can only imagine how much fun this would be to a young seven or eight-year-old Gabe Carey, which goes without saying I recommend this particularly for young kids who are without much to play that’s age-appropriate these days.īetween the stellar voice-acting performances, beautifully stylized graphics, ludicrous comedic appeal, I endlessly find it difficult to believe that this game, which was Kickstarted for little over $20,000 could out-innovate many games I’ve played which cost millions of dollars to produce. ![]() I can guarantee you that I’ll inevitably have someone over to test this feature with me once the PS4 version releases, as I currently only have one controller for PC and I feel that the standard keyboard/mouse input is quite cumbersome in this game.Īll in all, this is a game I knew I would enjoy, notably after playing the demo for a good hour or so in my local GameStop. While I didn’t try this feature out for myself, I can’t imagine it being a welcome alternative to single-player controls, although it is likely worth trying for a few laughs. There’s even an option for co-op play, which allows two-to-four players each maintain control over one of Octodad’s “limbs”, making the game even more difficult than it already is solo. The gameplay, while humorous, can grow stale after several hours, but certainly makes for a celebrative event, particularly when having company over to play. Inconveniently, the chef also happens to work at the same aquarium that Octodad’s wife needs to attend to for her career, which becomes another conflict for Octodad in a series of seemingly never-ending issues for the disguised octopus-man. The next door neighbor just happens to be a chef who wants to expose Octodad’s identity, and presumably expose his identity to his wife and children. Integrated in the game’s story, however, there’s yet another twist that becomes a constant struggle throughout its entirety. Forgive my hyperbole, but luckily, Philip Tibitoski is pretty much the nicest guy ever. At one point in the game, I became so frustrated after two hours of replaying the same part that I had to contact Young Horses, the game’s developer, for support. That’s right, throughout the game’s entirety, players are faced with the task of stealthily avoiding character contact in addition to simply walking being a task in itself. The game opens up by introducing the player to the game’s intentionally tedious controls in the midst of Octodad’s wedding to his human wife, starting players off with simple tasks such as finding and wearing a bowtie then walking down the aisle without anyone noticing him. The ridiculous concept sets itself up for many humorous punch lines throughout the game including, but not limited to priceless puns and cartoonish gags, as well as comical scenarios which highlight most of the game. Unlike its predecessor, Dadliest Catch is not freeware and, instead, features a variety of level environments, each emphasizing different ways to make players struggle as they progress through countless puzzles featured in the game.įor those of you unfamiliar with the breadth of lore in the Octodad series, the game is about an octopus father whose family thinks he is entirely human. This was our second stay at a Home2 Suites and might be our last! I don't know if it was me or if other people have experienced the same thing,The smell! It seemed like a cross between animal or mildew don't quit know.I bought some febreze air freshener in hopes that it would help and it still had this lingering odor which became more unpleasant the longer we were there.Which we did leave before our expectant departure date due to all our little aggravations! Most of the staff are unfriendly and unprofessional and the breakfast selections are limited not to say the kitchen staff was very unprofessional!! The hotel sits back a little bit so there isn't much natural light and then they go and put these awning shutters over the windows so there isn't much sunshine that can get into the rooms. All in All the manager of this property needs to take a good look at the staff and get more cleaning solutions to get rid of all the fowl odors.Cleanliness and good customer service goes a long way!
